Countryside Reception

More love from Harrison, Arkansas today. It is finally time for me to unveil our Countryside Reception of Sarah Williams & Robert Peele aka Mr. & Mrs. Robert Peele! And let me warn you, it is a beauty!

The decor we used complemented the space and transformed a beautiful backyard into a killer wedding venue. It was a beautiful fall Saturday and we couldn't have asked for nicer weather. Everything was perfect!
We had two main areas for the reception: poolside and countryside under the big white tent. This was great and helped us spread the guests out from being crammed or even falling into the pool; but was all connected so no one felt they were missing out.

Countryside Wedding

Kicking off the post with one of my favorite pictures. This is a sweet mother-daughter duo. And just soak in the bride's one-of-a-kind dress, complete with a little touch of blue.

September 24, 2011 was Sarah & Robert's special day.

Proud parents with the couple!

The Williams family. We have three Young Designs' couples in the mix including Sarah & Robert; Hannah and Brent (June 2010) and Rebekah and Jason (October 2010). This family has been so wonderful to work with!
The bridal cake and groom's table also had family ties, Sarah's aunt, Tari Hogue designed and made them.

The cupcakes formed the New York City Subway system.

And it all started with a little yellow piece of paper addressed "To the girl on the train..." now they are Mr. & Mrs!

New Booking Post: Sarah & Kevin

Happy New Year!! Why not kick it off with a New Booking post?!

Today I have a treat for you, Sarah Barnett and Kevin Barton's engagement pictures by Maura Dawn Photography! This sweet couple will be tying the knot in Little Rock, Arkansas, June 9. I have had so much fun planning with Sarah since August, and I know their wedding will be a blast! And for the engagement pictures...they are beautiful just like the cute couple!

Now one of my favorite part's of the new booking post,

A few words from the bride on their engagement story....

The day after I was finished with finals last December, Kevin took me on a trip to a surprise destination...as we boarded our flight, he told me where we were going: Asheville, North Carolina to see the Biltmore Estate! Having a background in design, this was a place I have ALWAYS wanted to see, so I was very excited! He had planned our tour of the estate for the following day. A taxi dropped us off right in front of the home, and we were going to explore different areas of the property before actually having our Christmas candlelight tour. We began in the gift shop, and I quickly called my mom to tell her how beautiful everything was. Kevin excused himself to the restroom and came back minutes later saying he heard that we needed to see the mansion during the daylight to "appreciate the Christmas decorations." So, I followed him into the home and we went through the roped off rooms, following the hundreds of other tourists. We reached the grand dining room which housed a seven-story tall Christmas tree and noticed a photographer taking photos of tourists as they came through the room. But, she actually came up to us! She asked if we would be interested in taking pictures for a promotion for the Biltmore, and we of course agreed. She led us into the forbidden part of the room that no one was allowed to touch! She posed us in front of the three fireplaces and then had us move in front of the huge Christmas tree, and posed us for more pictures. As she was snapping photos, I looked over and Kevin was down on one knee, and spoke those precious words, "Will you marry me?" I of course said yes, and when we hugged, the entire room clapped, including a group of children on a field trip! It was such an incredible moment that I will always remember!

How sweet is that. Great planning Kevin!

June will be here before we know it and I will be thrilled for this couple! It has been a joy to work with Sarah and her mom, Cheryl in the planning. Thanks for choosing Young Designs to help with your big day~

Countryside Ceremony

It is a delight to showcase this outdoor ceremony and reception from the great town of Harrison, Arkansas. I've become quite familiar with that adorable town and the wonderful vendors there. This wedding goes down as a favorite. Countryside Ceremony.

The ceremony was on the front steps of the bride's parents home in her hometown. Being a New York City resident and marrying a fellow New Yorker, we had many out of town guests. They loved the hospitality in Harrison. What a beautiful backdrop!

Sister's Flower shop created these two jaw dropping arrangements for our alter.

Riverside Romance: Wedding Day

You plan and plan and plan, and then, the sweetest part of all- the wedding day arrives! For Ashley and Reagan, November 4 was here. The girls got pampered and all dressed up. Don't worry, the guys held their own too, looking sharp in their suits.

Next up, the cinderella moment Ashley had longed for. She was so excited to step off of the trolley and see her groom for the first time. It meant a lot for the two of them not to see each other before, and we were able to make that wish happen. Family and friends were in awe at the beautiful bride making her way down the aisle.

It was a magical night for all to enjoy complete with a campfire under the stars!

I have to admit, when Ashley told me she wanted to have an outdoor wedding in Arkansas, in November, I was slightly concerned. The weather = unpredictable. But with a rain plan in back-up, just in case, we were delivered the most beautiful crisp fall evening that we could have asked for. It was a perfect celebration and I am so glad Ashley and Reagan got their main wish, being married at a beautiful outdoor location and celebrating the night under the stars with family and friends. Let's get to the details, shall we?

Venue: Maumelle's Park on the River

{a hidden location right on the banks of the Arkansas River}

Floral, decor, and coordination was done all in house by Young Designs. I loved the combination of airy white with a splash of yellow. It was striking yet natural. Not to mention how much fun it was working with Ashley determining the style and feel of her wedding- then having the honor to create it.

The biggest hit of the wedding...

The groom's doughnuts. Delivered from his favorite shop in his hometown of Van Buren, Arkansas. They were a huge hit. And this lovely cake by Lisa's Cake Boutique was just what the bride had imagined!

I'm just delighted to share with you these details. All photographed by Benfield Photography in Northwest Arkansas. They are so talented and gracious to allow me to share them with you. We even joked at the wedding because I didn't bring my camera- since I could trust Dale and Meredith to capture the lovely details for me :) Thanks you two! Romantic Reception: Post 2

We showcased Beth & Zach's decor yesterday and today it is time for all of the game players who made this reception one to remember!

Band: Relic (Morrilton, Arkansas)

They kept the dance floor moving all night long!

On the Border kept the guests talking with their Taco Bar and Guacitinis.' The West Little Rock On the Border was fabulous to work with, as always.

Morgan Zimmerman, owner of Baked by Morgan, out did herself on this masterpiece of a cake. It was stunning {& delicious}.

The bride put together a few sweets in honor of the groom....

Lighting was perfected by Chad Holsted with Lubus Link Entertainment.

And most important: the couple. Glowed. the. whole. night!

Delicate Details

The details are the itty bitty 'extras' that turn an ordinary wedding into extraordinary. And our 9.9.11 Bride and Groom hosted an extraordinary wedding in their hometown that Morrilton, Arkansas will remember for years to come. It simply took everyone's breath away and so do the photos that Melissa and Wes, of Melissa McCrotty Photography, captured that day.

A lovely pair of white heels where a little something blue is written out in "I do."

Bridal bouquet and Invitation

The bridal bouquet was wrapped in the brides' color of sangria. Touching up the bouquet and making it special; the Bride's late father's rosary and wedding ring were tied.

The gray suites that the gentlemen wore with the sangria and eggplant ties coordinated lovely with the sangria bridesmaids dresses and eggplant junior maids. Flowers complimented this color duo.

With the vision of the ceremony being a candlelit wonderland, the bride got her wish and it was stunning. However, the main detail of this wedding was the family heirloom antique crystal candelabras that were placed behind the alter.

Belgian Meadows Wedding: Reception

Belgian Meadows Wedding: Ceremony

At 3:00pm on May 21st, Lynn made her way to hop in the carriage and head across the lake to walk down the aisle. But before she did that, Clayton and Lynn had a first glance and took wedding portraits and family photos. I strongly recommend doing this for both the bride and groom, the photographer, and your wedding party/family. You all are able to visit and get portraits taken before your guests arrive. Your most important support system all together before the celebration begins! Plus your guests aren't kept waiting.

New Booking Post: Eric & Dana

Congratulations to Dana & Eric, who will be tying the knot in November!

I have had the pleasure of working with them since March and am looking forward to their big day! It will be a vision come true and stunning for all of the guests who attend.

But today, I get to share how they met, give you a little sneak peak into the couples' story {which is one of my favorite parts}! And today, another surprise...

Words from the groom!

"While a couple of friends and I were sitting down, a beautiful lady came and sat beside me. Shortly thereafter, the photographer for the jazz event that we were attending stopped by the two of us and requested to take a picture. Undeniably, Dana refused, but the intervention of my friend Kenn compelled her to take the photo with me. After our photo was taken,we talked sporadically until she prepared herself to leave for the evening. At that moment, me being the suave, bold person that I am, handed her my business card and told her to give me a call the next day. Lo and behold, the next evening I received a call from a very interesting lady who has been by my side ever since."

Fairytale come true. So happy for you two and am honored to work on your wedding weekend!

New Booking Post: Ashley & Reagan

Meet Ashley Bibbs & Reagan Myers

Words from the Bride.....

"Reagan did such a good job planning this! The weekend of April 9th was supposed to be the Officer's Convention weekend, so Reagan had me take off work the Thursday and Friday before so we could "go early". I had bought my dress and everything! Then that Wednesday he said, "I have some bad news, and some good news - bad news is you won't be able to wear your dress this weekend. Good news is we are taking a trip tomorrow." He wouldn't tell me where we were going and all I knew was to pack for 40-50 degree weather! I threw SO many clothes in my suitcase, and in the morning when we got to the airport I saw on our boarding passes... SEATTLE! I was totally surprised. Little did I know that really wasn't much of a clue at all. When we got there, we went down to the rental car terminal, and I found out we would be driving an hour and a half to Anacortes, WA. The drive was gorgeous - we loved all the big trees. When we got to Anacortes it was just getting dark, and we'd had a long day of traveling and delays. We drove down the street just sight-seeing, and the town was SO neat. It was right on the water! We decided to eat in that night and rest up for the next day. We did some sight-seeing early in the morning around the neighborhoods, and the houses there were so well-kept and such a cool neighborhood. We went and walked around a harbor, too... I got some eye-rolls for how many pictures I was taking but he will thank me now! :) Afterwards, Reagan had scheduled me a SIX HOUR SPA DAY starting that morning! It was sooo amazing. I got my nails and toes done, hair washed and done for dinner, a massage, a facial, ANOTHER massage... I was in heaven. That night we went out to a nice restaurant in the area and had some delicious food! We ordered the local oysters, a cream cheese salmon spread, and Reagan had a great steak! The next day, we did ALL of our sight-seeing. I took a zillion pictures, and we went to a park on the water, we saw bald eagles, we went to the cliff we saw the day before, and we had so much fun together. We got ready that afternoon because Reagan said we had to be ready to go at 4:30. He told me what he thought I should wear because he would not tell me where we were going! I got all ready, and Reagan snapped one picture of us before we left, but he made me leave my camera in his jacket pocket. We got in the car, and were driving down a long road with fields on either side. I saw a big strip of BRIGHT yellow, and I asked him "what is that?" At first it looked like caution tape! :P When we got closer I realized that it was flowers and I was blown away, there were so many. We drove by some of the fields, then we went and parked at one! Then I knew we were going to walk through one of the gardens and flower farms. When we got out of the car, we had taken a few steps and Reagan said "OH WAIT! I FORGOT MY JACKET!" I was really wondering what the big deal was because it wasn't THAT cold outside. Ha! So we continued in through the gardens and out to this HUGE daffodil field. Reagan seemed like he knew exactly where he wanted us to go, then he said "let's take off our shoes so we can walk out through the rows" (it was muddy). So I hiked up my leg on the fence post to peel off my boots, and probably I was making threats to Reagan that my shoes better not get stolen or muddy! Haha. We walked out through the rows of daffodils, and the mountains were AMAZING in the distance with snow on top. It was a cloudy day too so the yellow of the flowers really popped. It was here that Reagan stopped me, and pulled two pieces of paper out of his pocket. He read me a sweet note that he had written down at the hotel before we left, and then he got down on one knee. He pulled out the box and there was my ring inside!!!!!!!!! I was SO happy I couldn't believe it, and it all happened so fast! I think I said "YES!" or some version of accepting, and we were both smiling and laughing. It was then that I noticed the photographer taking our picture, and he'd been there the whole time! We got to walk around while he kept snapping photos, and Reagan told me about driving all over the state to talk to my family and his the week before, and about how he arranged the trip, and how long he'd had the freaking ring!!!"

Great planning on Reagan's part, especially in hiring KP-Studio to capture the above picture of the actual proposal! How thoughtful?! It will be a picture they can look at forever!

Recently they had their wedding photographers, Benfield Photography, capture their E-session! Such a photogenic couple!

They love the outdoors as you can tell from the proposal and engagement session, so when it came down to picking a venue for their wedding, they knew it needed to be spectacular and wanted it to be outside. Between you and me, they picked one of the prime spots along the Arkansas River and it will be jaw-dropping gorgeous...Just Wait!

Northside Church of Christ welcomed Layne and Logan's family and friends in style earlier this month. Sister's Flower Shop 'wowed' them all as soon as they stepped into the church lobby with arrangements that were stunning; Lisa and Sandy tied together the Bride's color scheme of red, white and ice blue beautifully; adding star accents too.

The church bulletin board, designed by Susan Farmer, showcased the couple's e-session by Jason Crader. Pictures the couple took on their college campus of Harding University earlier this year.

The personal touches of this wedding surpassed any others, when the Bride and Groom {who both are incredibly talented singers!!!} recorded the processional music for the ceremony.

How great is that?

Once the guests were seated, it was time to begin....

Mother of the Bride, Melissa, taking everything in while Layne made her finishing touches before her father, Kenny, walked her down the aisle.

However, before the Bride made her entrance, we had eight precious flower girls and ring bearers, all cousins of the Bride and Groom, lead the way. They did wonderful!

Friends of the couple, the Good News Singers, preformed This Marriage.

Personal vows were exchanged.

Then sealed with a kiss.

It was a beautiful ceremony.

ending with a new last name for the bride,

When it comes to the Fourth of July holiday weekend, Red, White, and Blue Shines especially this year at Layne & Logan's Harrison, Arkansas wedding that took place July 2, 2011.

Wonder what sparkled the most?

The were so genuine and sweet,

naturally glowing from the inside out

and a gorgeous duo in the ninety degree heat,

Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day weekend. Kicking off summer means fruit is in season, why not use your food as decor?!

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Carl Jones of Carl Jones Carving at a friends wedding in Jackson, Tennessee. As I was in line for dinner, and something caught my eye. The food, specifically the melons were carved and used as decor. I loved it. Check out his amazing work in the pictures below.

Later that evening, Carl was on-site carving as part of the entertainment. I got to visit with him and learn all about his business. He has done many events and weddings across the country, including several high profile weddings. Carl also broke the record at the Colorado State Fair for the World's Largest Fruit Sculpture in 2010 with 3 carvers, 5 days and 500 watermelons displayed eighteen feet tall. {Source: Carl Jones Carvings; Premier Place Catering}

Brown Wedding Sneak Peak

Lynn Patten & Clayton Brown were married Saturday at a wonderful outdoor ceremony in Little Rock. Belgian Meadows was the perfect spot for them to say "I-Do" and for family and friends to celebrate. Tim Sitler was on-site as the videographer and captured a few still pictures too. I had to give you a sneak peak of the 'joy' celebrated by all.

A few weeks ago, our friends at Alfred Angelo Bridal in Little Rock invited us to come to their Girls Night Out vendor open house. It was so much fun! Hanging out with vendors and meeting new brides eager to complete the planning for their big day- what could be better on a Thursday night-not much! Here are a few pictures I snapped of our set-up.

I wanted to do a fresh-fun, Spring look. Since it was a ladies bridal event, I through a little pink too. The soft shades of lemon yellow, baby pink, and white worked great for the evening event and sparked interest for several Brides-to-be.

Thank you to everyone who came by and to Tina at Alfred Angelo for inviting us out.

Trend Tuesday: Royal Wedding Recap

Friday morning wedding bells chimed, crowds cheered, and millions were glued to their televisions and computers around the world for one main event: The Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. The new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Like the common public obsession with the royal wedding, many industry colleagues were glued to the televisions as well. After-all this is the wedding of the decade and will set trends for this year and years to come. So today's post is all about my favorite aspects of the wedding and the items that I think will become 'trendy.'

Ladies first. The Dress!

Catherine Middleton's dress was a show stopper around the world. Sarah Burton, creative director for Alexander McQueen, designed the long sleeved, ivory lace and satin wedding gown. Burton was quoted saying she was "marring traditional fabrics and lacework, with a modern structure and design" for Kate's wedding dress {Read more here: Today}. I think the dress was stunning; especially for a future Queen. I loved seeing how her veil and tiara also complemented the dress. The sheer veil with the lace detail on the bottom is so timeless. Then of course, every bride dreams of being a princess and wearing a platinum and diamond halo tiara by Cartier; lent by the Queen of England {Source: Platinum Jewelry}.
Kate then changed into this gorgeous Sarah Burton creation for her reception at Buckingham Palace that evening. These two dresses, worn by the new Duchess of Cambridge will inspire many brides and wedding designers this year!

Then we have the handsome Prince, in uniform. Pretty sure every woman in America let out a sigh when they first saw William and Harry dressed in their best; I'm predicting just a few claimed dibs on Prince Harry Friday {by few I mean thousands}.

The attendants. LOVED the Maid of Honor dress. My favorite part was the detail on the back of the dress, and how flattering it looked. I loved that Pippa wore white too.

The new Mr. & Mrs.!

They are just smitten with each other; as they should be! Check out her bouquet in this next photo. At times, brides want their bouquets to be abundant with flowers and volume. But I love how proportional Kate's is with her dress and waistline. It is smaller than what I imagined for her; but is the perfect accessory to complete her overall bridal look.

{Hint***Brides: this is what you are going for. Using your bouquet as an accent and accessory}

If this could be a "trend" venue, sign me up!

The ceremony site: Westminster Abbey is gorgeous.

Question is: How do you decorate or add to a historic cathedral?

Maple trees were delivered and brought in to line the aisle.

They were perfect. Giving the decor height but not overshadowing the venue.

Imagine how many hours of practice and detail were involved for executing the royal wedding plan.

Even though the next two pictures are during set-up, you can see how wonderful the maple trees look in the Westminster Abbey. Look for using more 'natural green' in weddings.

Just because I love how in love they are in these next two photos...

Traditional vows exchanged.

Mrs. Middleton looked gorgeous I thought. I loved the Mother of the Bride's dress attire designed by Catherine Walker; her dress, coat and hat were the perfect shade of blue. I feel the blue and the Queen's yellow dress; will bring these colors back into the mix.

Now. The details on the cake.

I will let these photos speak for themselves.

Pretty sure. I don't even need to say another word about the cake. {If your jaw didn't drop- somethings wrong with you. Or you must be a guy that somehow got stuck on our page! ha}

Last, but certainly not least; departing the ceremony in a horse drawn carriage.

The Royal Wedding of 2011 certainly did not disappoint.

Special congratulations to all of the planners and executives in charge- they had their plates full for the last few months. That is for sure. Hope you enjoyed the Royal Wedding Trend Tuesday.

Sneak Peak: Sweet Sixteen

Because I love you followers so much,

and since I can't control my excitement from Saturday nights event,

YOU get a special sneak peak on our very first Sweet Sixteen Birthday Party!

And we rolled the red carpet out for this one....

I will also reveal one major vendor in my sneak peak...

The Venue. The Argenta Community Theater in Downtown North Little Rock that opened this February with Former President Bill Clinton speaking at the grand opening, and this is one of the first events that occurred here!

{I predicted the first time I saw it, that it WILL be the new go-to wedding venue this year!}

But Saturday night, it was time to P.A.R.T.Y.

Trust me, you will want to see more from this party! It was a branding experience for this marketing major turned event producer, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the response from the guests and clients reactions.

New Booking Post: Elizabeth & Zach

It's the major planning time of the year and I am honored to introduce to you our September 9th couple, Elizabeth and Zach!

My. Oh. My. Did Melissa McCrotty knock these engagement photos out of the park!

This precious and good looking couple made her job a little easier too, I am sure!

I met Elizabeth at the Conway Bridal Show in February. After talking to her for a little while, I knew I would LOVE for her to become one of 'my' Brides. You see...She had already been doing her research and had scoped out our page on facebook- plus has a plan and know what she wants. Ding. Ding. Ding. We have a winner!! She has been a joy to work with so far and I know together we will make her enchanting hometown wedding a hit!

Our lovely Bride-to-be Elizabeth offered up a little background information to share with our viewers.

I just love a good love story.

Words from the Bride:

Zack and I have "known" each other for a couple of years now. My little brother, Gregory, has this big group of guy friends that he "hangs" with and Zack is part of that group (this group is quite large and there is about a 7 year age difference from oldest to youngest). This is how I came to know about Zack. It really all started in the summer of 2009. I would get hints anytime I was around any of these guys that they were trying to set Zack and I up, but I always just played it off and never thought too much about it. So one night, I am at my Mom's and Greg shows up and out of the blue asks, "would you go out with Zack if he asked you?" If you know me, you know I had to ask 20 questions about him and the situation...example, "Did he put you up to this?" LOL. So I said yes, gave the boy the confidence he needed to ask me out (he will kill me for saying that!) and the rest is history! Everyone says that you will find love when you least expect it and that is definitely true with us! We have been inseparable since Oct. 2009!!

I am in awe of these pictures. Seriously. Aren't they amazing!?!

And now for the best part. I always love hearing about proposal. It is such a monumental moment in the couples' life and begins a new chapter and new journey bringing with it wedding planning and marriage.

Again, words from the bride:

Obviously, I knew Zack was going to propose (we had discussed it a lot!!) I just had no idea when! We had a trip planned to Breckenridge in Jan. 2010 and in the back of my mind, I kinda thought this may be when he asked but really, I just didn't know. Rewind back to Christmas Eve. We had debated when we were going to do "our" Christmas" b/c we had family demands on both sides. So around noon on Christmas Eve, we exchanged gifts (and he did VERY well, btw) and then we went on with our day going to my family's first and then going to his Mom's that evening. (At this time, I was thinking no Christmas proposal because he gave me such great gifts and so many...lol). Fast forward to that evening at his Mom's. (The holidays were going to be tough this year because Zack's little brother unexpectedly passed away on November 30, 2010. It's been very hard on the family, Sam was 24 years old. We all were kinda dreading Christmas this year.) Zack's Sister and her boyfriend, Jason, who live in D.C., were home and we all were sitting in the living room after dinner opening a few gifts. The tradition is to open one gift and the gifts from the family in Chicago (Grandma and Aunt). One gift to Zack, his sister, and his parents was a personalized ornament with significance to Sam. Needless to say, it was a tear-jerker. Within a couple of minutes, Zack stood up and asked me to come to the front bedroom. (I wasn't suspicious of this b/c of the events that had just unfolded and I thought Zack was just a little upset). When I got to the room, Zack told me to close my eyes and when I opened them, he was down on one knee! He said a few really sweet things (however, if I reveal them, he would kill me! :-) and he asked me to marry him!!! I found out later from him that I said, "I can't believe you are doing this!!" I think when I said it, I made him nervous that I would say no!! Poor guy! LOL. What was so sweet and cute was that the WHOLE family was in on it!!! There was champagne iced down, pictures of the moment after and lots of phone calls to relatives and friends!! I also found out later that Zack's Mom had gone outside in the freezing cold to try and peek through the window when it was happening!! LOL...too funny!!! What was going to be a sad and bittersweet holiday turned into a joyous celebration!!!

I know it will be a show stopper thanks to all of the input and details this bride has been brain storming. Trust me, viewers, you will want to see the finished product after the big day! Monday I was able to take a trip to Morrilton to visit the ceremony and reception site, then tour the town with Elizabeth and do some planning. It was so much fun and made me eager to get started on finalizing all of the details!

Elizabeth and Zach, congratulations again on your engagement. I am thrilled to be working with the two of you!

They are just as sweet too.

Just listen to their story {words from the Bride}:

Mark and I met my freshman of college, his sophomore. I frequented the Lambda Chi house due to a boy I had a crush on that was good friends with Mark. I began dating said boy for 2 years and 8 months. Mark and I became very close friends during this relationship, but I never had feelings for him. When that relationship ended, Mark and I remained close friends even when I went to graduate school in Dallas. Last July, Mark went to a wedding in Fort Smith. I was there visiting family, so on Sunday we decided to get lunch. I was supposed to be going back to Dallas that day around 1. Well around 3:30 or 4:00 lunch ended. That was the first time I felt differently about Mark. We had so much fun at that lunch and couldn't get enough of each other. When I got in my car, I began to cry like an emotional basket case. I was run over with happy emotions/weirded out that I actually "liked" him. Mark called to check on me to make sure I made it back to Dallas alright. 2 days later I left to visit my brother in Europe for 2 weeks. Mark was all I could think about. When I would get near a computer I would email him or see if he was on gchat. When I got back, he was one of the first people I called. 2 nights after I got back, I let Mark know about my feelings (Wednesday night). Friday he was in Dallas by 6pm to spend the weekend with me. The way he treated me, smiled at me, and complemented me was absolutely perfect. The rest is history. August 26, 2010 was one of the best days of our life. We fell in love. I started looking for a job in October in Little Rock so I could be closer to him. I landed a job in November and now I am here to stay forever.

I just love their story and now I know you want to hear the proposal {Words from the Bride}:

Mark says he knew from the moment I wanted him to come to Dallas that we would get married...for once in my life, I was a little more apprehensive. It didn't take me long to think the same though. I had warned Mark I don't like public places long ago...nor do I like a lot of attention. He took good mental notes and pulled off my ideal proposal. Thursday night (3-24) I tormented Mark on how much longer he was going to wait and BEGGED him to spill some beans on when he was going to propose. I got nothing. I made him pause Jersey Shore for about 20 minutes while I pressured him to tell me anything. Still nothing. Little did I know he had ordered a ring on Tuesday and was planning on giving it to me Friday. Friday I went to work. It was spring break, so a lot of the kids were out of town. Friday was slow, so I decided to surprise Mark at home for lunch. I almost ruined the surprise. He had stopped at the liquor store to get some champagne and almost brought it in. At lunch he asked when I would be home. I said around 3:30. He told me he wouldn't be home until after 5. We planned on making shrimp creole and hanging out at home. While I was at work I was on gchat with Mark who was also acting like he was at work. Around 3:30 I told him via gchat I was going to stay and hang out with the girl at the front desk and do paperwork. He acted fine with that, BUT he was already home. He left work at 2:30 to get ready for me to be home at 3:30. I left the office at 4:30 and got home right at 5. I was parking in Mark's garage because his roommate was out of town. When I asked him for the code (I can never remember it) he sent it. I opened the garage and his car was in there...sneaky sneaky. I still didn't suspect anything. I parked and went inside. Mark was standing right in the kitchen with a huge smile. HE said surprise! He also said surprise again..he had cleaned the house and it was SPOTLESS. I walked over to hug him and he said I have another surprise. He got down on one knee, said a ton of sweet things he says everyday because that is just how he is, and said "can we get married now?" For about the past few months, once a day, I would say "can we get married now?" half joking and half serious. That is why he said it that way. He did it in the kitchen with just the two of us and said "this is where we will hopefully live and raise a family. It is a place we can always come back to" I LOVED IT! We called friends and family, polished off a bottle of champagne, and started to plan the best party ever...that is when I called Shawna : )

It's true, I got a call from Jill the next day and the planning phase started! I am so honored and thrilled to work with them. Thank you so much to Jill and Mark for trusting me to plan their big day. I am so excited to work with you two!! Congratulations!

Trend Tuesdays: Hair Accessories Series; Post 1

Hair accessories are a traditional detail dating back to the beginning of the "veil tradition." Nowadays brides are choosing numerous textures, colors, and ideas for the perfect hair accessory for them. Unique to them and their day. That being said. The blog series is upon us. Today, we are starting with what might just be the HOTTEST hair accessory of the season....thanks to the royal wedding in April....keep an eye out for tiaras to be seen around the world on brides.

Hey everyone! It has been a gloomy week here in Arkansas, but that makes for a great time to be super productive in planning. So what's new at Young Designs? Lots of things coming your way. Here is a hint of what I'm working on right now: branding an event, designing a colorful June wedding, and finalizing all the details on our next two events. They are going to be show stoppers and I am itching to show you them. Some sneak peaks will come your way in the next weeks I am sure. Plus we have a few new booking posts and new couples to add to the Young Designs family for 2011. How exciting is that! But for now, I'm leaving you with a few photos that have caught my eye this morning. They are what I am looking forward to...Spring!

Trend Tuesdays: Boudoir Photography

An extremely popular trend right now in photography is boudoir shots, so today's post is featuring the art of boudoir. Some readers might wonder, why feature this? Well it is to show you that boudoir photography is a tasteful interpretation that allows women to feel sexy in their own skin. Lately bride-to-be's are getting little black books of the images to give their husbands, once married. Some ladies are taking advantage of the options for Valentine's Day, Birthdays, etc. They are classic pinup-inspired, fun pictures.

Depending on the style you are going for, ask your photographer where you should take the pictures. Some photogs use hotel rooms, others come to your house, or any other location that you feel at ease and comfortable with.

Question is: Who would I recommend to snap these photos of you?

In Arkansas, I have three go-to ladies for boudoir photos. I can 110 percent assure you that any one of these three ladies would make you feel comfortable, take killer shots, and most importantly make sure you had fun with the shoot and enjoy the experience.

First up is photographer, Dawn Meyer of Dawn PhotoGraphics based in Maumelle, Arkansas. Dawn has a wonderful sense of style from stylin' shoots for a corporate retail chain for many many years. Notice her eye of photography; making her images appear to pop off a catalog or magazine page. Check out these three images by Dawn:

Second up, we have photographer Meredith McClary, excuse me, the new Meredith Benfield, of Benfield Photography in Northwest Arkansas. She is the talented mastermind of Arkansas Boudoir which is a division of Benfield Photography. Meredith definitely has experience when it comes to boudoir. Tropical Paradise

An elegant glow with a hint of tropical paradise was added to the Old Gin in Conway, Arkansas a little over a week ago. All in celebration of the new Mr. & Mrs. Bryan Dickey of Maumelle.

Candlelight and tropical arrangements could be found throughout the venue. Allowing guests to feel as though they were on destination, for this joyous occasion.

Tropical arrangements were made by yours truly.

Catering was provided by Catering Creations.

The bride and groom's cakes were made by Stephanie Boyd.

The Central Arkansas trend of "What-Knots."

Friday morning, I had the wonderful privilege to meet with Charlotte and Kay, owners of the local custom hand-painted origami fortune cookies company, "What-Knots."

Boy did I find the latest trend in my meeting with them. I left and immediately began brainstorming today's blog post.

What caught my eye about these?

Why do I think it is a trend?

Because as soon as I saw them, I wanted to use them for my own!!!!

In fact, if I was engaged right now, they would 100% be custom made for my Save-the-Dates.

Think how fun it would be to receive one in the mail!

Winter Romance: Reception

'Winter Romance' included a little sparkle in all of the details, of the ceremony and reception. Whether accents on the vases, hanging crystals, or the glow of the couple; the new Mr. & Mrs. Brandon Johnson. 1-1-11 was a night to remember!

Lacey and Brandon's family and friends loved celebrating with the two of them. Maura Dawn Photography's pictures definitely show that, especially in this Father-Daughter moment of Lacey and her Dad.

And this. Exit. Is a sign of a wonderful reception!

Now. The. Details.

Lacey and Brandon chose Next Level Events as their reception venue in downtown Little Rock. It was a wonderful choice and they couldn't have been better to work with! Thank you especially to their staff for everything they did. They were also the caterer on this reception!

Everyone went on-and-on about how great the food tasted and looked! Props for presentation.

The Punch Fountain. Which was a huge hit!

Decor:

Young Designs designed Lacey's reception and did the floral arrangements for the evening! What a way to bring in the New Year. I loved it!

Bubbles for their 'Grand Exit'!

We carried over the whimsical white branches with crystals and red roses hanging for the buffet centerpiece. This 7' item really added height and texture to the open space.

The Bride's favorite, red gladiolas, were a perfect splash of color for some of the guest tables.

Then we mixed red roses and peonies atop these stunning black vases.

Each detail. Divine.

Everyone's favorite dessert at this wedding was....

Stephanie Boyd's incredible cakes! The Bride's five-tier buttercream cake was a show-stopper and the Groom's...well it was the first one gone! Not to mention, how great those chocolate covered strawberries look! {And tasted.}

This Winter Romance wedding was so much fun to be a part of, as a designer, and a bridesmaid. Special thanks to the wonderful couple and the Tankersley's who chose Young Designs for their big day/daughter's wedding! It was a pleasure working with you all throughout this entire process. Best wishes to our newest "Mr. & Mrs."

Simple Sunday

This past Sunday, we had a booth at the Conway Bridal Show.

It was a "Simple Sunday" theme.

I think simplicity can be tremendously elegant at a wedding or event. However, being simple- doesn't mean leaving the details out. It means making them count. Bring in show stopping pieces. Our example of this for Sunday's show, TrendStyle Events, mirrored cubes. Dayna is wonderful to work with and has a variety of event furniture and trend setting pieces you can incorporate into your theme. I especially enjoy these cubes. We used them to display our marketing materials, as shown below.

Your photographer will love using them as photo opportunities.

Candles or Flowers.

Check out the reflection of the pink/yellow color combination.

Another trick, make your table stand out.

To achieve this, I used our silver candelabra {yes, available to for your event} and accessorized it with a little sparkle and bling. Plus, it adds character to the decor! Bringing in our mirror squares with our decor, led us to the mirror table runner. For a dinner table, you can place your flowers and candles right on top of the mirrors. For our booth, we wanted them to stand out; therefore left them alone and went the 'simple' route.

I love the contrast of the silver accents with the pink and yellow flowers. It was like a peak of spring right in our booth! Crystal gems accented the floral decor.

Then atop the candelabra was our main feature, the dreamy floral arrangement that made my day! I loved the pop of color up high. The four arms of the candelabra held crystal gems and candles.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth and scheduled a consultation. I am looking forward to meeting you! In the booth with me on Sunday was, my wonderful mother, Mona, who you often see behind the scenes at Young Designs' events.

Plus, we had a special guest that stopped by and visited with a few people too. My lovely and dear grandmother, Cynthia, was working hard recruiting. She is precious!

Winter Romance: Ceremony

January first, two thousand and eleven was a perfect way to start the year for Lacey Tankersley and Brandon Johnson. The two were married at Chenal Valley Church in Little Rock, Arkansas in front of family and friends.

For the ceremony, we used the incredible venue as our main decor and just accented it with a splash of red, candlelight and a white runner. The decor really made an impact after the sun had set and the guests were arriving.

The alter had a white birch tree with red roses and crystals hanging down from the branches.

Below the tree, was a bed of candlelight.

In the foyer of the church, photographs from the bride and groom's family were on display. As well as, engagement photos of the couple.

Lacey and I worked together in designing the programs for her wedding. Simple & Elegant.

The programs were printed at Horton & Horton Printing, family friends of the bride. They were wonderful to work with and I highly recommend them.

Personal flowers were made by Young Designs. The bridal bouquet consisted of the brides favorite peonies and a mixture of red roses.

The bouquet was special because it represented Lacey's:

Something old, Lacey's grandmother's wedding rings;

Something new, the flowers;

Something borrowed, Lacey's maid of honor, Shelby's, broach;

Something blue, Brandon's high school ring.

The bridesmaids each carried a white bouquet of roses,

with red and black ribbon hanging down from the base.

Boutonnieres were red roses with a shiny black detail on the base.

It was such a wonderful ceremony to be a part of, as the designer/producer and as a bridesmaid. This is such a wonderful couple and I couldn't be happier for the two of them.

Trend Tuesday: So....Anthropologie.

Confused by today's title?

Yes, Anthropologie launched a new wedding line, BHLDN.

No, that's not what the trend is today.

Some of you may be wondering, "what's anthropologie?"

Read on {Grab a cup of coffee and take a seat, folks. So many details and inspiration- it's worth it}.

ANTHROPOLOGIE.

It is a store. It is a brand.

But more than anything, it is a style.

A style that brides everywhere want involved in their decor.

Whether it is a bread wall {pictured above} or a light bulb chandelier {below},

it is Inspiration at its best.

Just walk into a store, google it, or explore their website.

Anthropologie is everywhere.

What's the trend here?

It is bringing the inspiration and decor elements brides love, inspired by Anthropologie, and incorporating it in your event, shower you are hosting, or wedding decor.

Is it for you?

The "Anthropologie Style" is:

divine. feminine. fancy. intricate. one-of-a-kind. expressive. impressive. unique. anything goes. bold. bright. joyful. vintage. lace. patterns and textures galore. eclectic.

but most of all it is a style that is comfort- homey and inviting.

Complete with family heirloom inspiration.

Simplify life.

A favorite of mine at the moment is vintage luggage.

Of course in central Arkansas I would bring in Izzy's hot and cold teas for this 'thought.'

Combine neutrals with a pop of color.

Search no more, you can find plenty in the Anthropologie store or a cost effective nod' would be to search your house and grab a few things you already love. Or visit your grandmother's house. You might be surprise at the vintage family heirlooms she has,

that would be the icing on your wedding.

Fun fabrics are an easy way to express the couples style, lovin' this boutonniere.

And this Large frame photo opt is perfect representation of this style.

Decor options are endless.

Mason jars & lanterns. Paper lovelies, games, and quilts.

Bright colors mixed with black and white decor accents.

I just loved it. And knew it would fit with this post, and the style.

Ribbons & lace. Delicate details that adds volumes to the look.

One-of- a- kind vases that are art.

Trust me, guests will talk about them.

Make your design an out-of-the-box look.

How about these table markers.

Easy to make: Plate, fabric, hot glue. Plus an easel or plate stand.

See the main reason I love browsing the Anthropologie store, and reason it is a style is because they make extraordinary works of art out of regular daily items. Most that you wonder how in the world did they think of this? Or who is behind this?

That is the reason this style, their store, is for everyone. Because it is full of different items. Somethings you might love. Some you might know your best friend would love, but its not you. But that is what makes it special.

So "yes," having an "Anthropologie style" has been requested by so many in 2011.

More ideas:

Make a floral impression on your guests.

Use Candle light and bottles to your advantage. Even just to light the way.
